Tucked up in the north-west corner of Italy lies the spectacular Aosta Valley which boasts 5000 kilometers of singletrack, with many trails that have barely seen mountain bikes. It has worldclass alpine rides near some of the biggest peaks in Europe; the Mont Blanc, the Grand Combin, the Gran Paradiso and the Cervino (Matterhorn) and amazing forested trails in the lower valleys. This history of the area runs deep with medieval castles throughout the valley and Roman ruins in central Aosta that date back over 2000 years. We’ve teamed up with a multi-generational Aosta local legend who's ridden more of the region than most. On top of that, the cuisine is exceptional, the espresso superb and vino outstanding; it is Italy afterall. This trip uncovers trails that even local riders don’t know of. Join us, this riding adventure will blow your mind!
*Land cost includes price of high-performance eMTB rental.
This trip can be done privately at an Intermediate rider level, or on acoustic bikes or a mix of eMTB & acoustic.

ACTIVITY LEVEL
The minimum technical ability required for E-MTB Aosta Valley is Inter- mediate+. This trip is suitable if you have been riding consistently for three to four years and are confident on most types of singletrack and conditions. Expect long descents with a variety of features. This trip is a Level 3/6 for fitness. The accumulation of multiple long days of riding will add up, as it is on all of our trips the fitter you are, the more fun you’ll have.
THE RIDING
The singletrack trails are old hiking paths and are linked by sections of gravel roads and doubletrack. Trail surfaces are sometimes littered with pine needles or loose rocks with roots and some steep sections. Except for one lift in Pila, trails are accessed by shuttle and/or climbing and go from high alpine to treed valley bottom.
LODGING AND CUISINE
On this adventure we spend one night at a rifugio where you will not have your luggage. Otherwise, nights are spent at comfortable 3-star hotels with all amenities. The cuisine on this trip is typical of northern Italy, delicious. Please notify Big Mountain Bike Adventures if you have any special dietary needs.
CLIMATE
In big mountains, weather can change quickly and drastically – it could be 30 degrees Celsius one day and then freezing on a mountaintop the next day. Summertime in the Alps are typically beautiful, however it can rain and sometimes even snow, so we have to be prepared for all types of weather conditions.
YOUR SAFETY
Our trips take place in remote regions with limited evacuation options available. Our guides have basic first aid training, if a serious injury is suspected they will call helicopter search and rescue at the cost of the participant. Personal medical travel insurance is mandatory for all riders. If you choose to participate in our trips it is up to you to ride well within your limits, to ride conservatively, to walk sections if needed and to be safe as mountain biking is a dangerous sport. There are always risks and hazards on all trails that we ride. It is your responsibility to inspect your bike or rental bike daily and keep it in excellent condition. Helmets are mandatory and alcohol and drugs are not permitted while riding your bike.
