"The most beautiful mountains on the planet” as described by famous climber; Reinhold Messner. When you lay eyes on them you’ll agree, their rocky limestone spires pierce the skies while the flowered grassy valleys are dotted with picture perfect mountain towns. For history enthusiasts, this trip is a ride back in time as we literally pedal down trenches and past sights from World War I. We'll traverse some of the highest bikeable passes in the Dolomites via Unesco World Heritage designated Alta Badia, Sella, Val di Fassa, Alleghe, San Martino di Castrozza and Cortina d’Ampezzo. Add the stunningly perched mountain rifugios that we’ll call home for the night and delicious Italian cuisine and cappuccino stops and you’ve got one hell of a great mountain bike Dolomites trip. Trip stats: approx. total descent of 57,500 feet (17,500 meters), approx. total ascent of 10,000 ft (3050 meters), 3 shuttles, 20+ lifts. Four nights four-star hotel, three-nights point-to-point in mountain huts.
Private groups can also choose to begin / end this trip in Venice, Italy (instead of Munich, Germany).

Bike and equipment
High-performance rental bikes and eMTB’s are available on this trip. As it is on most of our trips it is recommended that riders bring their own bikes. A current full-suspension enduro bike with 150-160mm travel that’s capable up & down with a penchant for descending through rough terrain is suggested on this trip. Tires should be tubeless, 2.30” or above, aggressive tread designed for rocky terrain, one to two-ply casing for durability, puncture resistance and added control. Eye protection and knee pads that you can comfortably pedal in are highly recommended. Helmets are mandatory when on your bike. A 20L backpack is recommended.

ACTIVITY LEVEL
The minimum technical ability required for Dolomites is Advanced. This trip is suitable if you have been riding consistently for three to four years and are confident on most types of singletrack and conditions. You can climb and descend in control on steep singletrack with loose rocks (the Dolomites are generally rocky) and some exposure at times. Expect some hike-a-bike sections and some exposure. This trip is a Level 3/6 for fitness, some days Level 4/6. The accumulation of multiple long days of riding will add up, as it is on all of our trips the fitter you are, the more fun you’ll have.
THE RIDING
The singletrack trails are old hiking paths and are linked by sections of gravel roads and doubletrack. Trail surfaces are generally dry with fixed and loose rocks, with some rock gardens and some flowy dirt in lower sections. Expect some sections with mild exposure (that can always be walked), mostly open alpine riding and some forested sections in lower valleys. Rides are most often accessed by lifts.
LODGING AND CUISINE
We’ll spend the first three nights at a well-appointed 4-star hotel in the alpine village of Val Gardena. Then it’s into the alpine we go for three nights in epic mountain rifugios (cabins) with 4 or more guests per room. The rifugios are very comfortable with hot showers, extensive wine lists, etc. This is Italy, the food is amazing!! Then, we're back to the 4-star for one final evening. Please let us know if you have any special dietary needs.
CLIMATE
Generally the weather is warm and sunny in the Dolomites. Being the big mountains however we need to be prepared for very cold weather (yes, even snow!) and cool nights.
YOUR SAFETY
Our trips take place in remote regions with limited evacuation options available. Our guides have basic first aid training, if a serious injury is suspected they will call helicopter search and rescue at the cost of the participant. Personal medical travel insurance is mandatory for all riders. If you choose to participate in our trips it is up to you to ride well within your limits, to ride conservatively, to walk sections if needed and to be safe as mountain biking is a dangerous sport. There are always risks and hazards on all trails that we ride. It is your responsibility to inspect your bike or rental bike daily and keep it in excellent condition. Helmets are mandatory and alcohol and drugs are not permitted while riding your bike.
