Trip Itinerary

Experience stunning Baja California, Mexico on a mountain bike holiday that combines the best of riding, recharging and enjoying the sun.

Day 1

Welcome to Cabo San Lucas. Transfer to La Ventana.

Upon arrival, we’ll take a two-and-a-half-hour transfer from the Los Cabos International Airport to our seaside resort in La Ventana. Please coordinate your flights as there is only one transfer. After checking in and organizing bikes we’ll meet for introductions, trip orientation and a welcome margarita.

Day 2

Ride North Trails.

We’ll ride directly from the door, passing through neighbouring El Sargento before venturing onto the trails. Prepare for an exhilarating experience on trails like Pista Pista and Warren Ave, where you'll encounter sections that will make you woohoo out loud.

Day 3

Ride South Beach Trails & Cardon Corridor.

Head south through the town to explore the world’s largest cardon cactus forest, where you'll find an impressive network of exceptionally well-maintained trails. These iconic Mexican cacti can grow over 10 meters tall and live for more than a century. For those seeking additional adventure, an optional ride is available later in the afternoon.

Day 4

Ride north trails.

This morning, we’ll ride the Punta Gorda trail, a stunning route that follows the sparkling teal-blue coastline of the Sea of Cortez, offering views of the uninhabited Isla Cerralvo. Be sure to bring your swimsuit, as we’ll stop at a secluded cove for a refreshing dip. Afterward, we’ll climb 500 meters above the sea, then descend a series of thrilling trails leading back to the beach. The afternoon is yours to relax and unwind.

Day 5

Transfer to Rancho Cacachilas. Ride Rancho Cacachilas.

Our only shuttle of the trip takes us on a 40-minute drive to a private ranch owned by Christy Walton of the Walmart fortune. With the expertise of IMBA, the trails here are masterfully crafted. Today's ride features a fun loop through the mountains and desert forests, offering an unforgettable experience. We’ll pause for lunch in the shade at a traditional farmhouse before returning to the ranch.

Day 6

Ride Rancho Cacachilas

Today, our goal is to climb to the high ridge that offers breathtaking views of Bahia de la Ventana and Isla Cerralvo in the distance. The panorama from this vantage point is truly spectacular. Just returned from a week-long trip to La Ventana on the Baja peninsula in Mexico. It far exceeded my expectations. Booking the trip was a breeze. We were provided with plenty of information to plan, and pack - including a brief on how to package a bicycle for air transport, which I referred to a lot. The accommodations were wonderful.

The food/meals that were arranged were delicious, and the restaurants we ate at (as suggested by our host/coach) were amazing. Most importantly, the riding: We had an excellent coach who knew the best trails for our ability, made it fun and also gave constructive feedback to improve our riding. The rides were true mountain bike trails - fun, challenging, good flow, well built.

Nothing about this trip was left to chance and it made it effortlessly enjoyable (except for the effort to pedal up hills in the desert - which was enjoyable too :) ). I felt safe exploring the town and getting around. There were lots of water sports to try as well (wind surfing, kite boarding and stand-up paddling), after the bike rides, but I didn't have any energy left.
