Bike
No rental bikes are available on this trip, so riders must bring their own bikes. A full-suspension enduro bike with 150/160mm travel that climbs and descends capably is best for this adventure. As the terrain is rocky, tires should be tubeless, 2.30” or above, aggressive tread, one to two-ply casing for durability, puncture resistance and added control. Short stem and riser bars are recommended. Please ensure your bike is in top working condition and freshly tuned. Never arrive with new parts or a bike that hasn’t been ridden. Eye protection and knee pads that you can comfortably pedal in are highly recommended. Helmets are mandatory when on your bike. A 20L backpack is recommended.
This is a shuttle-assisted enduro mtb trip with an emphasis on descending on sometimes technical terrain. There are some short hike-a-bike sections, and riders should be comfortable shouldering their bikes.

No, your gear will be transported to each accommodation.
Always ride well within your limits and ride conservatively. There is no shame in walking your bike on a section that makes you uncomfortable, and walking your bike is mandatory in sections where there is exposure.
We will spend one night in remote Sierra de Guara – staying in a simple but comfortable inn. The balance of the nights are in three and four-star hotels.
All breakfasts, and 3 dinners.
The food in the Spanish Pyrenees is hearty, rustic, and deeply influenced by the mountains. It features ollada (a slow-cooked meat and vegetable dish), Catalan meat stew, grilled meats, and cured sausages. Local cheeses are staples, often paired with honey or nuts. Wild mushrooms, foraged from the forests, add depth to many dishes, while freshwater trout is a regional specialty. Wine, olive oil, and tapas are a plenty!
Most hotels during the trip will have laundry services. Your guide can confirm the best locations for last minute or overnight service.

We recommend purchasing Euros (€) prior to leaving home or using the currency exchange at your airport. However, you can easily go to an ATM at the airport upon arrival. On most days we have the opportunity to stop at a bank machine, but credit cards are widely accepted.

Gratuities for your Big Mountain guides may be given at your discretion in response to their professionalism and leadership throughout the week. As a tipping standard, we suggest 5-10% of the trip price per individual guest to be divided among your guiding team.
