Experience the world’s longest slickrock ride, a 26-kilometer stretch of pure adrenaline, and spend a day exploring the rugged beauty of Swedish Lapland. We’ll stay in charming, off-the-beaten-path fishing communities, savoring excellent cuisine and resting in beautifully renovated ‘rorbuers’—traditional fisherman’s cabins. There’s also an opportunity to dive into history with a visit to the fascinating Lofotr Viking Museum and archaeological site. Trip Itinerary

Embark on the ultimate Norway mountain biking adventure, with an exciting day in Sweden.

Day 1

Welcome to Norway.

Fly into the Harstad/Narvik Airport in Evenes and make your way to dinner and an overnight stay at an idyllic lodge situated in a unique location with stunning views. Arrive early enough to enjoy a woodfired sauna gazing at a majestic fjord.

Day 2

The longest slickrock ride ever.

Prepare for a ride on some of the largest smooth granite slabs in Europe. This adventure promises more than just stunning views; it’s a test of endurance and skill with sections of hike-a-bike, demanding climbs, challenging descents, but unparalleled rewards. You'll navigate polished slabs, natural bowls, and incredible features that make this terrain a true paradise for mountain bikers.

Day 3

Swedish Lapland.

Experience the thrill of adrenaline and flowing trails as we ride through Lapland, ascending to one of Sweden's highest peaks at 1,228 meters. After a challenging day on the trails, we'll return to Narvik in the afternoon, reflecting on the incredible landscapes and achievements of the day.

Day 4

Ride Narvik area. Transfer to Lofoten Islands.

After breakfast, we start the day with a steep climb to a rugged alpine peak with stunning sea views before we rip down a thrilling trail that winds through a birch forest. We’ll then continue our journey to Mortsund, a charming fishing village on the island of Vestvågøy, right in the heart of the Lofoten archipelago.

Day 5

Ride Vestvågøy.

Today's adventure includes two options. The first ride starts with a climb and hike to a breathtaking alpine ridge. From there, you'll experience a big descent into a picturesque valley. If you've had your fill of riding, it's a short and easy pedal to the Lofotr Viking Museum, where you can delve into history at the world's largest Viking house. For those eager for more, the riding continues with a climb into another stunning valley, followed by a hike to a killer descent with panoramic views. If the weather is on our side, we’ll make a stop at one of Lofoten’s beautiful beaches before heading back to the hotel.

Day 6

Ride to the Summit.

Today's adventure features a challenging technical climb, taking us through rocky sections and two significant hike-a-bike segments as we ascend to the summit of one of the highest peaks in the Lofoten archipelago. At the top, you'll be rewarded with a 360-degree view that is truly spectacular. Experience a thrilling descent as we navigate rock gardens and fast, buffed sections all the way down the mountain.

Day 7

Ride to where the trail ends. Transfer to Svolvaer.

What goes up must come down. Our journey begins with a climb through gnarled trees, eventually cresting the treeline to a trail that crosses a high plateau with views of the sea far below. The trail culminates at the edge of a steep precipice, offering a bird's-eye view of a village where traditional whale hunting is still legally practiced as a means of survival. After taking in the sights, we’ll turn around and ride back down and transfer to Svolvær, the capital of the Lofoten Islands. Tonight, we'll settle into our rorbuers, equipped with saunas that we’ll appreciate after the day’s adventure. Dinner will be at Børsen Spiseri, the most renowned restaurant on the Lofoten archipelago, where we'll enjoy an exceptional meal to cap off the day.

Day 8

Ride Digermullen.

We begin with a one-hour transfer to a quaint seaside hamlet, where our journey continues with a climb and hike to a rock slab summit. From this vantage point, you'll be surrounded by fjords, mountains, and the sea in every direction—a truly awe-inspiring sight. After exploring the flat-ish summit, we’ll tackle a technical descent that promises to keep you on your toes. Our last full day together concludes with a relaxing sauna and another delicious dinner at Børsen Spiseri.

The Lofoten Islands are beautiful. What a great trip and an incredible experience. Andreas was a great guide and I feel we made the best of every moment. The food was out of this world. ( I am still craving reindeer stew). The pictures don’t do this place justice. The riding was exactly what we expected and just what we were looking for.

This is my second trip with Big Mountain and I was worried that my expectations might be set too high because I had such an amazing time on the Cloudraker trip two years ago. The group was perfectly curated. I really enjoyed the other members of the group and we were all close enough in skills and fitness to not hinder each other.

Enjoyed the area, the rides, the guide (Andreas) was great. Gorgeous scenery, highly recommend. just be ready to hike your bike a fair bit.

If you have the opportunity to go on any trip with Big Mountain, you need to go. I have enjoyed Costa Rica, Italy (Dolomighty), Nepal, Iceland (twice in 3 weeks) and Greenland, all of them incredible and unequalled in their own way. Solid logistics and accommodation, professional and gracious local guides plus spectacular trails.
