Trip Details
This trip is a must-do for passionate riders seeking the ultimate European mountain adventure. Imagine dropping into a descent high in the Alps after sipping a quick cappuccino at a mountain hut. Picture yourself gazing at Mont Blanc from above Verbier, spending the night in a historic alpine hotel and riding beneath the shadow of the Matterhorn in Zermatt. With pedal power, we traverse mountain passes, heading deep into the Swiss Alps, where ancient hiking trails double as world-class singletrack. Expect technical terrain with rocky sections, root-laced descents, and some exposure. Some sections will test your skills, while others will have you flowing effortlessly through alpine meadows and forested valleys. Be prepared for hike-a-bike stretches—comfortable riding shoes are essential. We maximize our time on the best descents by using a mix of lifts, trains, and shuttles, ensuring long, sustained downhills. The altitude ranges from 2,000m to 3,000m, so expect breathtaking views and lung-burning climbs. This trip is all about epic trails, stunning landscapes, and an unforgettable Swiss riding experience.

Advanced
You have been mountain biking consistently for five years or more and can ride technical trails, including steep sections, small jumps, and small drops. You can ride switchbacks confidently, including rock gardens and sections with exposure. Your overall fitness level is high, and you have the endurance to ride for 4-6 hours, over multiple days, with some intense climbs. You bike as much as you can, in all weather, and over all terrain. You know when to walk a section that might be outside your comfort zone.

Pricing & Booking Details
Private group pricing follows the posted rates for your chosen itinerary, provided your group meets the minimum number of riders required for that destination.
Your group can choose any available scheduled departure that doesn’t already have riders booked, or — subject to availability of guides, accommodations, and logistics — we can work with you to select custom dates that best suit your group’s schedule. Once dates are confirmed, we require a 25% deposit per person to secure your private departure.
Please note that prices may be subject to change if booking more than a year in advance, or if any factors affect trip costs (such as group size adjustments, accommodation upgrades, or adding extra nights before or after your main itinerary).
Want to customize the itinerary for your group? No problem. Any updates, additions, or changes to existing itineraries are subject to a $1000 USD one-time booking fee.
Our team will maintain close communication with you throughout the process to ensure full transparency — no surprises. Once your trip details and pricing are confirmed, we’ll take care of everything so you can focus on what matters most — an incredible riding experience with your favourite people.

Bike
High-performance rental bikes and eMTB’s are available on this trip. It is recommended that riders bring their own bikes. A full-suspension enduro bike with 150/160mm travel that climbs and descends capably is best for this adventure. As the terrain is rocky, tires should be tubeless, 2.30” or above, aggressive tread, one to two-ply casing for durability, puncture resistance and added control.
Short stem and riser bars are recommended. Please ensure your bike is in top working condition and freshly tuned. Never arrive with new parts or a bike that hasn’t been ridden. Eye protection and knee pads that you can comfortably pedal in are highly recommended. Helmets are mandatory when on your bike. A 20L backpack is recommended.
This is primarily technical, downhill riding style of trip. We use a variety of lifts, trains and shuttles to access trails, and the downhills are long and sustained.
17-43km, 4-6 hours
Rides are mostly over 2,000m and sometimes start as high as 3,000m. The singletrack trails are old hiking paths and are linked by sections of gravel roads, doubletrack and accessed by lifts, shuttle and climbing. Trail surfaces feature fixed rocks and rock gardens, with some dirt at lower elevations, switchbacks and steep sections. Expect some exposure at times, hike-a-bike sections and mostly open alpine riding with some forested sections in lower valleys.
On night 4 of the trip, we will be staying in an alpine hotel, without your luggage. You will need to carry what you need in your riding day pack (20L suggested). The hotel provides slippers and towels.
Always ride well within your limits and ride conservatively. There is no shame in walking your bike on a section that makes you uncomfortable, and walking your bike is mandatory in sections where there is exposure.
We spend three nights at a small family-run hotel in the quaint farming village of Lourtier at the base of Verbier. This hotel is warm and cozy with a small bar and fantastic Swiss hospitality. One night is in a historic hotel at 2337m, where you will carry what you need in your daypack. In Zermatt we’re at a great little hotel for three nights that’s located steps from the center of town.
All breakfasts, 1 lunch, and 3 dinners.
Swiss cuisine blends hearty Alpine flavors with European influences, featuring rich cheeses like fondue and raclette, crispy Rösti potatoes, and savory meats such as Zürcher Geschnetzeltes. Freshly baked Zopf bread, artisanal sausages, and creamy Älplermagronen add to its comforting appeal. Swiss chocolate, renowned worldwide, offers a sweet finish. Rooted in quality ingredients and traditional techniques, Swiss food is warm, satisfying, and perfect for the country’s mountainous climate.
The hotel for the first 3 days of the trip offers a laundry service.
In the big mountains, the weather can change quickly and drastically – it could be 30 degrees Celsius one day and then freezing on a mountaintop the next day. Even though Valais is considered to be the ‘California of Switzerland’ and receives lots of sun, it can rain and even snow. Generally, the summer weather in Valais is hot and sunny.
Gratuities for all restaurants, hotels, local guides and transportation are paid by Big Mountain. Gratuities for your Big Mountain guides may be given at your discretion in response to their professionalism and leadership throughout the week. We suggest 5-10% of the trip price per individual guest to be divided among your guiding team as a tipping standard.
Switzerland does not use the Euro (EUR) as its official currency. The official currency is the Swiss Franc (CHF). However, many tourist areas, hotels, and larger stores may accept Euros, but they will likely give you change in Swiss Francs and might use an unfavourable exchange rate. It’s best to have Swiss Francs for everyday purchases. Credit cards are widely accepted.
