If Québec isn’t already on your mountain biking radar, it should be. Just minutes from the historic streets of Québec City—one of North America’s only UNESCO World Heritage cities—you’ll find an unexpected density of world-class trail networks, each offering a completely different riding experience. One day you’re deep in rugged, forested wilderness tackling flowy singletrack and technical granite slabs; the next, you’re rolling into a cobblestone-lined old town for craft beers, incredible food, and a post-ride vibe that’s as memorable as the trails themselves.
What truly sets this destination apart is the contrast. The riding is diverse, immersive, and bucket-list worthy—but it’s the seamless blend of wild terrain and rich culture that catches people off guard. Add in the option to ride it all on an e-bike with the experts from Big Mountain —maximizing time on trail while still having energy for Québec’s legendary après-bike scene—and you’ve got more than just a guided bike trip. You’ve got a high-energy, ride-hard, live-well experience that consistently exceeds expectations.
And the best part? It’s still one of the best-kept secrets in mountain biking.

Where Passion Meets the Trail: Inside Expert Big Mountain Guide Marc-André’s Québec Experience
With over 25 years of professional guiding experience and four decades on a bike, Marc-André is a deeply committed leader. Having guided in remote corners of the world—from the Himalayas to the Lofoten Islands and the volcanoes of Hawaii—he brings a wealth of expertise and a calm, attentive presence to every ride.
These days, Marc-André has traded the race circuit for something a little more meaningful—but no less intense. His days still start early, often with a quiet coffee as the first light hits the valley, and unfold with the same discipline and focus that once defined his racing career. Only now, that energy is poured entirely into his guests.
As the founder of a small mountain villa tucked seamlessly into a breathtaking glacial valley, Marc-André has created more than just a place to stay—it’s an experience. Every detail is considered. Every moment, intentional.
There’s no ego here, no fanfare. Just a genuine desire to share what he knows and loves. His mission is simple: to give the very best of himself, so that every guest leaves having felt the true Big Mountain Bike Adventure magic on Québec’s trails.
We needed the straight goods from our expert guide, so we asked Marc-André what makes our Quebec trip worthy of being called “La Belle Province”, and this is what he had to say:
For someone who’s never ridden in Québec, how would you describe the terrain and overall riding vibe—and what surprises people most when they get here?
“The riding vibe in Québec is a unique blend of rugged Canadian wilderness and warm Québécois charm. What makes us truly stand out is the density of world-class trails. Within a very short radius of Québec City—a stunning UNESCO World Heritage site—you have access to four major trail centers, each offering an international calibre of riding. The ‘vibe’ here is all about the après-bike culture. You can spend your morning deep in a lush, remote forest and your evening enjoying a craft beer or a gourmet meal in a 400-year-old cobblestone street. It’s that seamless transition from wild nature to historic city life that defines our region.
What surprises riders most is the incredible diversity between each trail center. Even though they are close to each other, no two days feel the same, which is perfect for a 5-day trip.”
How does riding this trip on an e-bike change the experience compared to a traditional MTB trip?
“Riding an e-bike is a total game-changer for a 5-day trip like this. It allows you to maximize your time on the trails without hitting that end-of-the-week wall of exhaustion. You get all the thrills and the same incredible descents, but with much less fatigue on the climbs.
What’s your favourite trail or region on this trip, and what makes it so special for riders?
“Our guests often tell us that their day at Vallée Bras-du-Nord is one of the best mountain biking days of their lives. Specifically, the experience of riding the legendary Neilson and Kraken trails, combined with the ‘bike-in, bike-out’ of staying right at Villa Éco, creates a unique sense of immersion.
Then, you head over to Sentiers du Moulin, and the terrain shifts completely. People are blown away by the craftsmanship of the trails; they are world-renowned for their hand-built tech lines on massive granite slabs like the Slab City, Saga, Mammouth… It’s grippy, technical, and visually spectacular. Riders expect ‘good’ trails, but they are shocked to find a ‘bucket-list’ destination that rivals the best spots in the world.”
Who is this trip perfect for—and who might be surprised by how much they love it?
“This trip is a dream come true for intermediate-plus riders. While Québec offers a huge diversity of trail grades, those with a solid technical foundation will get the most out of our unique terrain.
The most surprising thing? Québec City is still one of the best-kept secrets in the international mountain bike scene. Almost every traveller who visits us tells us the same thing. People often arrive with moderate expectations and leave completely blown away, telling us the trip was far beyond anything they imagined. If you’re a seasoned rider looking for your next ‘world-class’ discovery before the rest of the world catches on, this is exactly where you need to be.”
