Some trips are about where you go. Others are about who you share them with. Doing a parent/child mountain bike trip brings a different kind of meaning to the experience—one built on connection, perspective, and conversations you wouldn’t have at home. Out on the trails, the dynamic shifts. You’re no longer just parent and child—you’re riding partners, sharing challenges, laughs, and those special, memorable moments that only happen when you’re a little outside your comfort zone.

Some places seem designed for moments like this. We asked one of our riders why she chose the Italian Dolomites for a trip with her daughter, and this is what she shared with us:
“With my daughter’s deep roots in mountain biking—starting at age two in Lake Tahoe and continuing through college racing with her partner—we were looking for a destination that could truly deliver. The Dolomites offered it all: technical terrain, bonus descents thanks to an incredible lift network, and the unforgettable experience of staying in mountaintop rifugios. Even with high expectations, it blew us away. Every trail felt cinematic, like riding straight through a postcard.” – Kathryn B.

Karyn F., another one of our riders, took her two daughters on our Pura Vida trip to Costa Rica—trading alpine peaks for jungle singletrack, warm air, and a rhythm that invites you to slow down and soak it all in.
“I’ll never forget the moment when we arrived at a hidden and totally isolated swimming hole in the middle of the jungle, with crystal clear water to wash off after our epic singletrack ride—completely off the beaten path. Riding here together made me realize how incredibly lucky I am. It was a magical adventure with my girls in such a beautiful, welcoming part of the world—far from the crowds. Paulo, our guide, was fun, kind, and knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to make it unforgettable. This wasn’t just a trip—it was a time to make memories that will shape our girls’ outlook on the world and keep me smiling for many years to come.”

Maybe that’s what makes mountain bike trips like these so powerful.
It’s the moment where you stop mid-ride and think, how is this even real?
It’s seeing each other not just as mom or child, but as strong, capable individuals—and feeling proud in a whole new way.
It’s realizing that sharing something like this turns into something bigger than the trip itself.
Because in the end, it’s not just about the trails you rode or the places you saw.
It’s about the bond you built along the way—and the kind of experience that stays with you, becoming part of your family story, etched into your memories.
This Mother’s Day, remember that the best gift isn’t something you give—it’s the time you spend together.
