We are fully charged about this new eMTB adventure of a true European classic that takes riders around Europe’s highest peak, the Mont Blanc massif. Departing and culminating in Chamonix, France one of the Alps’ most hopping mountain towns, this route crosses three amazing regions: Switzerland’s Valais, Italy’s Aosta Valley and the Haute Savoie of France.

Depending on the route chosen the Tour du Mont Blanc can be technical (with hike-a-bike sections). We have designed this trip to be all rideable which means that you can expect a mix of singletrack, some gravel sections and asphalt sections while staying in small hotels with private rooms - that’s right, no dorm rooms on this trip. And, we’ve organized your luggage to be transferred from hotel to hotel.

This is not just any ride. The stats: 6 riding days, 186 km, 8000 meters of up, 8000 meters of down. Land cost includes price of high-performance eMTB rental.

WHAT TO EXPECT

ACTIVITY LEVEL

The minimum technical ability required for E-MTB Tour du Mont Blanc is Intermediate. This trip is suitable if you have been riding consistently for two or more years and can climb and descend under control on moderately steep singletrack with loose rocks or roots. It is important to be fit for this adventure, the accumulation of multiple long days of riding will add up, as it is on all of our trips the fitter you are, the more fun you’ll have.

THE RIDING

The singletrack trails are old hiking paths and are linked by sections of gravel and asphalt roads and doubletrack and accessed by a few lifts but mostly climbing. Trail surfaces feature fixed rocks and rock gardens, with some dirt in lower sections, switchbacks and steep sections. Expect some exposure at times, mostly open alpine riding and some forested sections in lower valleys.

LODGING AND CUISINE

On this adventure we spend all seven nights at small, cosy, family-run hotels with private rooms. Your luggage will be moved from hotel to hotel each day. The cuisine on this trip is typical of each region. Please notify Big Mountain Bike Adventures if you have any special dietary needs.

CLIMATE

In big mountains, weather can change quickly and drastically – it could be 30 degrees Celsius one day and then freezing on a mountaintop the next day. Summertime in the Alps are typically beautiful, however it can rain and sometimes even snow, so we have to be prepared for all types of weather conditions.

YOUR SAFETY

Our trips take place in remote regions with limited evacuation options available. Our guides have basic first aid training, if a serious injury is suspected they will call helicopter search and rescue at the cost of the participant. Personal medical travel insurance is mandatory for all riders. If you choose to participate in our trips it is up to you to ride well within your limits, to ride conservatively, to walk sections if needed and to be safe as mountain biking is a dangerous sport. There are always risks and hazards on all trails that we ride. It is your responsibility to inspect your bike or rental bike daily and keep it in excellent condition. Helmets are mandatory and alcohol and drugs are not permitted while riding your bike.

THE NEXT STEPS

Please read and understand our Terms and Conditions and our Waiver. Then, email or call us to make sure that your desired departure is confirmed and there’s still space available. We’ll then send you a short Rider Questionnaire to learn about your riding experience and ensure that you are suitable for the trip. The last step is to complete our secure online Registration Form and pay your 25% deposit, and we’ll send you detailed Trip Preparation Guide that includes steps on preparing for your adventure.
